ORTHODOX Jay Ar “Star Boy” Magboo of Baco, Mindoro Oriental will face Malaysian Aiman Abu Bakar on August 28 at the Racquetaz Badminton Center in Don Placido Campos, Dasmarinas, Cavite.

They will fight for 8-rounds under the lightweight division.

“I’m 139 pounds now, although I have no enough time to practice,” said Magboo.

Matchmaker Edmond Dellosa informed Magboo only last August 10.

But Magboo had sparring with Roman “Hitman” Canto and Prell Tupas. They spared 50 rounds so far and need more time.

The 32-year-old Canto just recently stopped Jomar Borbon of Capiz in the 2nd round last August 5 at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Canto’s present record is 15 wins, 15 loses, three draws with nine knockouts.

Tupas, on the other hand, has not seen action since 2019.

The last was a knockout from Adam Diu Abdulhamid of General Santos City last March 23 at the Resorts World Hotel, Newport Performing Arts Theatre in Pasay City.

Magboo, who is managed before by Yolly “Ate” Alfante, lost to Ernie Sanchez to win the Philippine Boxing Federation lightweight last May 1, 2022 in Barangay Ligaya Gymnasium at General Santos City.

“I will just go with the flow,” said Magboo.

Abu bakar, on the other hand, has nine wins, one loss with four knockouts.
