
Apolinar stakes OPBF title in Japan on Aug. 26

CURRENT Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super bantamweight champion Pete “Thunder” Apolinar of Cebu stakes his title against Yoshiki Takei of Japan on August 26 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.
“My weight is ok and I have been managing it well since our training program started,” said Apolinar in a Facebook message.
Apolinar arrived in Japan last August 17. Coach Jeaneth Aro arrived earlier than him because Tomjune Mangubat had a fight for the OPBF super featherweight title last August 14.
Mangubat, however, lost by a technical knockout in the 4th round to Masanori Rikiishi of Japan at the EDION Arena in Osaka.
“I’m 123 pounds right now and tomorrow, Aug. 25 is the official weight-in,” said Apolinar.
Apolinar, who has 16 wins, 2 loses with 10 knockouts, recently knocked out Jhunriel Ramonal of Binan City,in the 10th round to win the vacant OPBF super bantamweight title last April 2, 2022 in Paranaque City.
Meanwhile, the main supporting bout features Ribo Takahata against Seiichi Okada in an 8-rounder.
