STELLAR Mohammad Tamaru of Elorde Davao Gym and Stevie Reggie Reyes of MP Gym from Toril posted separate victories at the opening of the Davao Ultimate Knockout Challenge (DUKC) last August 14 at the Elorde Davao Gym in Matina.

The century weight Tamaru scored a knockout in the 2nd round against Charles Plaza of Full Impact Training Fitness Gym from Tandag City.

Plaza started with clear shots against Tamaru in the opening round. But Tamaru answered back with his own left-right combination in the second round which forced Plaza to end by a standing knockout.

Reyes, on the other hand, landed powerful punches to beat Handani Ali of Blackhawk Gym by a unanimous decision in the co-main event.

The 60-kilogram Reyes threw jabs with excellent flurry since the start of the fight.

DUKC was organized by gym owner Alfie Angelo Jonsay as part of the Kadayawan Festival activity with the Davao City government.

“We thank everyone for coming here and hopefully we’ll have our next DUKC in October,” said Jonsay.

Jonsay’s wife and co-owner Karen Sanita awarded the medals and certificate.

The tournament management is headed by Coach Rodel Garde.
