Deniega stops Jaro in 4th round

UNBEATEN RV Deniega of General Santos City stopped former world champion Sonny Boy Jaro of Silay City in the 4th round last night, August 5 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Deniega downed Jaro in the 2nd round and later downed again in the 4th round.

Deniega now has seven wins with four knockouts while the 40-year-old Jaro suffered his 16th loss against 45 wins

“It’s a big honor to be able to fight a world champion,” said Deniega

The Deniega-Jaro fight was an undercard of a big comeback show by US-based promoter Aljoe Jaro of Jaro International Promotion.

Meanwhile, WBO Oriental Minimumweight champion ArAr Andales of Bacoor scored a technical knockout win in the 4th round over Bonjun Loperez of Davao City.

Rodel Sunguit TKO’d Lloyd Jardeliza in the 2nd round; Jenel Lausa stopped Michael Escobia in the 5th round; Jericho Gatchalian beat Paolo Sy by a majority decision; Justine Darap retired Jayar Diama in the 4th round; Jonathan Gajana Ko'd Iresh Alejandre in the 1st round; Roman Canto stopped Jomar Borbon in the 2nd round.
