BLOODIED Dennis “Cañon” Quiñonero of Davao City defeated Jay “El Calibre” Verdadero of Tagum City by a split decision in the co-main event of the “Resbak 2” professional mixed martial arts tournament last July 12 at the Sunkeen Arena of Municipal Grounds in Malungon, Sarangani Province.
The 38-year-old Quiñonero suffered a bad cut on his right eye and nose after he was hit by an elbow in the second round.
Quiñonero of Cenojas Mixed Martial Art was able to recover and even managed to hurt Verdadero on the ground in the 3rd round. Verdadero of Observe MMA was already hurt but the referee Aaron Kent Odiong stopped the fight to give him time to regain his strength.
“Split man daw samantalang dapat unanimous decision sana kasi pabor lahat ng judges sa akin, split man pinag sisigàwan ng announcer,” said Quinonero.
It was the first professional fight by Quiñonero while Verdadero suffered his first setback after winning his debut in the “Resbak 1”.
“Go, go pa rin ako sa rematçh nito kasi ang dugo at pawis ko sa taas ng cage as a pro fighter,” said Quiñonero.
The results of the other fights:
John Ezekiel “Easy Kill” Pagalangan conquer Christian “Titan” Panilag; Jelo “The Terminator” Bacalso beats Bryan “Hitman” Ramos; and Kim “Super Jet” Bisbal thump Paulo “Spider” Yasaña.
