DEFENDING champion ArAr “Asero” Andales of Northern Samar retained his World Boxing Organisation Oriental Minimum title after settling with a majority draw against Joey “Singwangcha” Canoy of General Santos City last April 9 in Rizal, Laguna.

Judges Edward Ligas of Cebu and Mohammad Aquil Tamano of Manila both scored it 114-114 while Almar Kelly Odiong of Davao saw it at 116-112 for Canoy.

It was the first title defense of Andales, who won the vacant title by a technical knockout win in the 7th round over Minh Phat Sam last October 23, 2021 at Wadong Gymnasium in Ansan.

The 22-year-old Andales now has his first draw against 13 wins, two loses and five knockouts while Canoy, 28, has two draws with 17 wins, five loses with nine knockouts.

The boxing promotion was promoted by Gerry Balmes with Art Monis as matchmaker.
