UNDEFEATED RV Deniega of General Santos City will fight former Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation light flyweight champion Edward “El Heneral Fighting” Heno of Paranaque City on April 26 at the Sanman Gym in General Santos City.

Deniega is facing his hardest opponent as he fights Heno, who has 14 wins, five draws, five knockouts and only one loss.

But the 22-year-old Deniega is not bothered at all.

“No, because I'm also training,” said Deniega, who has six straight wins with three knockouts.

Deniega, who is being trained by Markquil Salvaña, is still making himself in good condition. He is now sparring with teammates Jayson “Smasher” Mama (16-1-0, 9KOs) and unbeaten Judy Flores (10-0, 6KOs).

Deniega had a good record as an amateur boxer with 8-1-0. In his last fight, Deniega outpointed Curt Nielgy Manigsasa of Davao in the bantamweight finals of the PRISAA National Games.

He had also won the finals of the MP National Boxing Championships and the Philippine National Games (Junior Boys Flyweight)

Deniega said that it is “a big opportunity and honor for him to fight Heno.”

“Heno has a lot of experience and he was also a champion before,” said Deniega, who is now 115 pounds.

In his last fight, Heno lost to Mexican Elwin Soto by a unanimous decision for the WBO World light flyweight title last October 24, 2019 at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio.

The Deniega-Heno 10-round non-title is one of the double main-event dubbed as the Sanman Bubble IX. It is promoted by Sanman Boxing.
