Golden Boy Promotions bantamweight prospect Abner Mares of Mexico is shopping around for a worthy opponent for his next fight underneath the Shane Mosley-Zab Judah fight on May 31 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
According to Ramiro Gonzalez, chief public relations officer of GBP, the boxing outfit is still looking for an opponent for their Mexican young prospect.
When told that there's a young prospect from Cebu named Joseph Omanz who can give Mares a good fight, Gonzalez said the young Filipino prospect might be considered.
Mares holds a perfect record of 16 wins with 10 KO's, and looked spectacular stopping Filipino Diosdado Gabi in two rounds last March 15 underneath the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez rematch.
The former Olympian had also beaten Cebuano Robert Allanic last year in Pennsylvania, and a bout with Omanz will create drama on the revenge angle.
The ALA Boy Omanz, a former amateur standout, holds a perfect ledger of 11 wins with 6 KO's.
Mares has been built up by Golden Boy Promotions starting in the early part of his career, and some have even considered him as a possible future opponent for WBO bantam champ Gerry Penalosa.
