FORMER champion and now promoter Gerry Penalosa of Gerrypens Promotions Inc. is disappointed with the recent fight that did not push through between undefeated Criztian Pitt “The Golden Boy” Laurente (8-0, 5KOs) of General Santos City and super featherweight Vicente “Enting” Casido (6-3-1, 2KOs) of Dumaguete last February 5 in Bogo, Cebu.

“Very discouraging, Hilum lang man, no care” said Penalosa on the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Cebu.

Laurente failed to fight due to health condition according to Dr. Jose Unabia of GAB Cebu. It was supposed to be the first televised fight this January.

Penalosa said that there was no further statement issued by GAB Cebu regarding the case of Laurente. Efforts to get the side of Unabia proved futile as of press time.

Meanwhile, GAB Cebu OIC Jimmy Dontol was also not around during the incident. But he already issued a statement regarding the incident.

“I do not want to comment on the issue now because GAB is conducting a probe on that. I defer to the wisdom of the Board,” said Dontol.

Laurente, who was already doing some warm up and getting ready to climb the ring when the doctor called him and told him he could not fight.

“Kalit ra man patawag ang doctor ug gisturya si Pitt nga dili sya puwede kadula,” said Laurente’s father-trainer Titing.

His son has already passed medical exam, quarantine and SWAB test from GAB Manila.

“So kinsay naay mali ana kami or sila. Grabe among hago unya ilang hago igo ra sila niingun nga dili puwede ka dula, unya a problema naman GAB Manila doctor,” added Laurente.
