FORMER Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation champion Mark John “The Journey Man” Yap of Cagayan de Oro will take on undefeated Jadier Herrera of Cuba for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Asia super featherweight title fight at The Lawn in Emirates Gulf Club, Dubai.
“It’s time to be back. The time has come,” said Yap, who is making a comeback since he lost to Angel Alejandro of USA last November 23, 2019 in Las Vegas.
The 33-year-old Yap has been training for four months already since November.
“100 percent todo ensayo ko na at ako'y nakapag handa dahil advance ko kasi ng training kahit binibigla nila ako sa offer at ako’y nakapag handa sa laban,” said Yap.
Yap has taken in super lightweight Ador Torres to be his sparring partner for he is a southpaw just like Herrera.
“Gagawin ko ang the best, kahit undefeated pa siya kaya ko siyang labanin. Walang matigas na tinapay sa mainit na kape," said Yap.
Yap has 30 wins with 15 knockouts against 15 losses while Herrera, 19, only has five wins all by knockout.
Herrera recently scored a 4th round knockout against Eduardo “Nightmare” Mancito of Jose Abad Santos, Davao del Sur last January 15 at the Cuban Boxing Club in Dubai.
The boxing promotion is People’s Fighters.
