ORTHODOX Vincent “Asero” Astrolabio of General Santos City will fight former WBA and WBO world super bantamweight champion Guillermo “El Chacal The Jackal” Rigondeaux of Cuba for the World Boxing Council (WBC) International bantamweight title on February 26 at The Lawn in Emirates Gulf Club, Dubai.
“Todo training pa mi, next week light training na mi,” said the 24-year-old Astrolabio.
Astrolabio and his team led by manager-head coach Nonoy Neri will leave on February 18 for Dubai.
Astrolabio scored a 1st round stoppage on Jerry Pabila of Cotabato at the Bula Gym in Gensan last February 27, 2021.
He has 16 wins with 12 knockouts against three losses.
Rigondeaux, on the other hand, won the vacant World Boxing Association world bantamweight title by a split decision against Liborio Solis last February 8, 2020 at the PPL Center in Allentown.
Rigondeaux, however, lost to John Riel Casimero of the Philippines via a split decision in a title match last August 14, 2021 at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
The boxing promotion is People’s Fighters.
