Grant Dennis: Beating Danny Dignum puts me where I've belonged for a while!

Grant Dennis is fully aware of the rewards that are on offer if he can defeat Danny Dignum when the two fighters meet on Friday's action-packed #MTKFightNight.

Dennis (17-3, 3 KOs) challenges Dignum (13-0-1, 7 KOs) for his WBO European middleweight title as part of this week’s huge event at York Hall in London, which will be broadcast live in the US on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank, and worldwide on IFL TV.

A victory for Dennis would see him send a huge statement out to the rest of the middleweight division, and he plans on making a big impact.

Dennis said: "I'm ready to go and I can't wait. I rate Danny as a fighter and when I've spoken to him on a few occasions, he's been cool, but this is just business.

"A win in this fight pushes me in the right direction. He's a name that's up there with world honours potentially on his doorstep, so having a scalp like his on my record does me a lot of favours.

"I've had to do it the hard way on the small hall scene, and thankfully I've now got this shot and it's going to be a good fight. Winning the WBO European title can propel me to where I've belonged for a long time.

"I've been training for this fight just as I would any other, like a madman. I don't look at Dignum any different to my last opponent who was a journeyman, I just give it everything no matter what. Everybody has got two hands, two feet and a heartbeat.

"In my head I feel like I've only lost one fight in my career to Andrey Sirotkin, as I felt I got robbed in the Elliott Matthews fight for the English title, and the other was in Ultimate Boxxer so that was just a three round contest.

"Dignum's last fight was too Sirotkin too, and that was a fight that could have gone either way. Personally I thought Sirotkin might have edged it."

Elsewhere on Friday’s card, undefeated sensation Lee McGregor returns against Diego Alberto Ruiz, Nina Hughes takes on Bec Connolly, Bilal Fawaz makes his professional debut against Vladimir Fleischhauer, Joe Giles meets Lewis van Poetsch, plus Jordan Flynn, Paul Ryan and George Mitchell are all in action.
