DAVAO CITY -- Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao will now fight Yordenis Ugas of Cuba after original opponent Errol Spence Jr. of the USA suffered an injury on his eye during practice.

Now who is Yordenis “54 Milagros” Ugas?

The 35-year-old Ugas has a record of 26 wins with 12 knockouts against four losses.

Before he was elevated to super champion, Ugas won the vacant World Boxing Association World welterweight title by a split decision over Abel Ramos of the USA last Sept. 6, 2020 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The 5-foot-9 Ugas earlier lost to Shawn Porter on March 9, 2019 for the WBC World welterweight title despite hurting Porter with a cut on his right eye from a legal punch.

Porter, however, then lost to Spence by a split decision for a joint IBF and WBC world welterweight title last Sept. 28, 2019 in LA.

Ugas has already won three times since he lost to Porter.
He scored a unanimous decision against undefeated Omar Figueroa Jr. last July 20, 2019 at MGM Grand. Ugas has beaten Figueroa in Round 1.

He then beat Mike Dallas Jr. by a retirement in the 7th round last Feb. 1, 2020 at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Ugas was then named the new champion by WBA after Pacquiao was unable to defend the title due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
WBA listed Pacquiao as a "champion in recess" last January.
Ugas, however, had only one week to prepare before the fight.
Pacquiao (62W-7L-2D, 39KOs), on the other hand, last fought by a split decision against Keith Thurman last July 29, 2019 to win the WBA super world welterweight title at MGM Grand.

The fight is promoted by Manny Pacquiao of MP Promotions and Tom Brown of TGB Promotions.
