DAVAO CITY –Undefeated Jayson “Smasher” Mama of Gen. Santos City will do everything to be a world champion when he fights reigning champion Sunny "Showtime" Edwards of United Kingdom for the International Boxing Federation world flyweight title on Sept. 11 at the Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Hackney Wick, London, UK.

This was the statement by his manager JC Manangquil of Sanman Promotions.

“Edwards is a great champion but Jayson will do everything to be a world champion,” said Manangquil.

Mama (16W-0L, 9KOs) has been training at the Sanman Gym in Gen. Santos City.

“He was already training in the gym one month before we signed the contract,” said Manangquil.

The 24-year-old Mama is under Coach Ronerex Dalut, a former super flyweight.

Mama has been sparring every day four times with four rounds each against former World Boxing Organisation Asia Pacific super flyweight champion Froilan “The Sniper” Saludar, undefeated super flyweight RV Deniega and newly-crowned WBA Asia South Flyweight champion Dave “Dobermann” Apolinar.

“Jayson Mama is in great shape,” said Manangquil.

The bubble boxing event is promoted by Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions. Steve Furness is the matchmaker while the media is the United Kingdom BT Sport.
