
Abne TKOs Borbon; Gabunilas win

DAVAO CITY -- Undefeated April Jay “Astroboy” Abne of Misamis Oriental scored a technical knockout win against Royder Lloyd “Ar-Ar” Borbon of Lebak, Sultan Kudarat in the 3rd round last June 19 at the Cosonsa Compound in Mandaue City.
It was the 6th win and the 3rd knockout by Abne.
Borbon suffered his 10th loss against six wins and one draw.
Meanwhile, John Paul Gabunilas also stopped Marino Agum in the 4th round in the main supporting event.
Gabunilas was knocked down in round one but he bounced back by sending Agum down in the Round two and four.
The fight was stopped before it started in the 5th round. The ring physician Rene Bonsubre advised the referee not to let Agum continue due to two cuts on the left eyelid. Gabubilas was declared the winner based on the score sheets.
The other results: Rodex Piala won by a majority decision over Vicente Casido; Reycar Auxilo beat Zandro Librado by a unanimous decision; Ian Abne knocked out Marvin Campo in the 1st round; Yeroge Gura won by a unanimous decision over Marvin Campo.
The “Engkwentro Uno” was promoted by Eva Marie Arquisola of ARQ Boxing Stable.
