Pitt Laurente.

DAVAO CITY – Undefeated Criztian Pitt “Golden Boy” Laurente of Gen. Santos City will face Vergil “Strong Man” Puton of Polomolok, South Cotabato on May 29 at the Tanaw de Rizal in Laguna.

Laurente (6W-OL-OD, 3KOs) recently scored a unanimous decision over Ernesto “Chocolate” Saulong, who will now take on undefeated Carl Jammes “Wonder Boy” Martin (17W-0L-0D, 15KOs) of Ifugao for the main event.

“Hindi pa po namin alam kung kailan po kami pupunta ng Manila (We still don't know when we will go to Manila),” said Laurente.

Laurente might transfer the fight in Gen. Santos City because it would be easier.

According to his father Titing, it is not yet sure whether it will push through.

“Wala pay klaro kay bag-o lang chat Boss Gerry basi dire na lang daw mi padula Gensan kay strikto na Manila basi maabtan mi lockdown (It's not clear yet. We just chatted with Boss Gerry, maybe we're just going to play Gensan as it very strict Manila right now because of the lockdown),” said Titing.

The Laurentes are under former world champion Gerry "Fearless" Penalosa, who is now a promoter and manager.

The younger Laurente is training at their own gym Laurente High Camp. It opened last January 2018 and was used as a training facility of the amateur boxing team of Gen. Santos City.

Laurente had a sparring for eight rounds last Monday.

“OK lang po ako. Malaki pa po ako,” said Laurente.

He recently beat a veteran boxer and will again next be fighting Puton who is also a veteran.

Puton is 31-years-old and had won the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation super featherweight title over Marbon Bodiongan by a TKO in the 6th round in Muntinlupa last 2016.

Puton retained it by beating Eduardo Mancito by unanimous decision in 2017 in Muntinlupa.

In 2018, Puton settled to a technical draw with Landy Cris Leon in Muntinlupa to retain his title.

The bubble boxing event in Tanaw de Rizal will be promoted by lady boxing promoter Yolly Alfante of Shock Punch Boxing Promotion, Tanaw de Rizal Mayor Vener Munoz, Vice Mayor Antonino Aurelio and Pablo Garcia.
