DAVAO CITY – Olympian and former world title challenger Mark Anthony “Da Baby Boy” Barriga of Panabo City will fight Junuel “Astroboy” Lacar of Gen. Santos City for the “Kumbati 9” on March 27 in Cebu.

Barriga (9W-1L-0D, 1KO), who is now under the One Above Sports Management, had lost his last fight to Mexican Carlos Licona for the vacant IBF World minimumweight title on Dec. 1, 2018 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, USA.

Barriga suffered a cut under the left eye from an accidental headbutt in round seven. Barriga earlier scored a unanimous decision against Gabriel Mendoza of Columbia in Quezon City on May 13, 2018.

Lacar (8W-6L-3D, 6KOs), on the other hand, won the vacant Luzon Professional Boxing Association (LuzProBA) flyweight title by a TKO over Romeo Tenorio of Sarangani in the 4th round in Gumaca on Nov. 7, 2019.

Lacar, however was knocked out by Mark Vicelles of Sultan Kudarat in the 4th round at IPI Compound in Mandaue City.
The bubble boxing event is presented by Omega Sports Promotion.
