
Geraldo to defend title against undefeated Martin in May

DAVAO CITY – Reigning Philippine super bantamweight champion Mark Anthony “El Heneral” Geraldo of Bukidnon will again defend his title this time against undefeated Carl Jammes “Wonder Boy” Martin of Ifugao on May 1 in Laguna.
It will be the second title defense of Geraldo (38W-9L-3D, 19KOs), who earned the vacant title by knocking out Virgel Vitor of Bohol in the 6th round last Feb. 11, 2019 in Tagbilaran City.
The 29-year-old Geraldo retained his title by stopping Lorence Rosas of Palawan in the 8th round last Sept. 20, 2019 in Mandaluyong City.
Geraldo, earlier lost to Nordine Oubaali of France for the WBC Silver bantamweight title on Dec. 16, 2017 in France.
Geraldo, who is also a former WBO Asia Pacific Youth super flyweight champion, did not saw action last year due to pandemic.
Martin (17W-0L, 15KOs) on the other hand, was still very busy despite the pandemic.
He knocked out Joe Tejones of Bukidnon in the 5th round last Feb. 20, 2021 in Binan City.
The 21-year-old Martin earlier beat Richard Rosales of Bohol by unanimous decision on Dec. 18, 2020 at the IPI Compound in Mandaue City.
He also retained his Philippine Boxing Federation bantamweight title by halting Philip Luis Cuerdo of Paranaque last Dec. 21, 2019 at Manila Arena.
The bubble boxing event is presented by Shock Punch Boxing Promotion of Yolanda Alfante in cooperation with Mayor Vener Munoz and Vice Mayor Antonio Aurelio.
The matchmaker is Jimmy Vallares Jr.
