Abdulhamid (L) and Jakosalem.

DAVAO CITY – Welterweight Adam Diu “Big Daddy” Abdulhamid of Gen. Santos City will face veteran Romeo “Hammer” Jakosalem of Davao City on March 17 at the Sanman Gym in Gen. Santos City.

“Maningkamut ko kay beterano pud ako kalaban (I will try because my opponent is also a veteran),” said Abdulhamid.

Jakosalem is 32 yrs. old with 38 fights. He won 18 bouts with 10 knockouts but lost 19 fights with one draw.

But Abdulhamid doesn’t really mind at all.

“Okay lang. Naka andam pud ug dugay sa training (It's OK. I’m ready again and been long training),” said Abdulhamid.

They will be fighting at 147 lbs. scheduled for eight-rounds.

“Gamay na lang timbang (Just a little more weight),” said Abdulhamid.

He sparred with Romero Duno, Harmonito dela Torre and John Vincent Moralde, who are all international competitors already.

“Diha gud padulong maka dula ko gawas (Right on the way I can play outside),” said Abdulhamid.

He won his last fight against Richard Betos by TKO on Dec. 2, 2019 in Gensan.

Earlier, however, he lost to undefeated Steve Gago by unanimous decision for the vacant IBF Pan Pacific welterweight title on June 1, 2019 in Macao.

Jakosalem, on the other hand, lost to Jhunrick Carcedo last Oct. 20, 2019 in Gensan.

He also failed to win the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation welterweight title to Ricky Sismundo in 2018 in Panglao.
The bubble boxing event entitled “Vengeance" is brought by Sanman Boxing Promotions featuring seven bouts.
