WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford has two options to fight this spring. One is former WBC and IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter and the other is former WBA "Super" welterweight titlist Manny Pacquiao. Top Rank boss Bob Arum says he had a meeting with Shawn Porter’s dad Kenny Porter to begin preliminary discussions for a possible fight during the spring.

Arum says Pacquiao has likewise expressed interest in fighting Crawford in his next career bout, and that fight has a better chance of realizing. The match with the popular former eight-division champion is what Crawford prefers because of the amount of money it can generate than a bout with Porter, added Arum.

But Pacquiao told Bob Arum he wants to get a $40 million payday while Crawford may receive $10 million as quoted by the Daily Tribune. The question is whether a fight between Pacquiao and Crawford earn $50 million or more in revenues this year. Crawford is not of the same level as Conor McGregor or Ryan Garcia as a pay-per-view blockbuster.

Crawford pales in comparison with Keith Thurman with regards to popularity and marketability in a fight. The Omaha, Nebraska native has no big drawing power from the fans and viewers. The asking price of $40 million may be too hefty now at this time in Pacquiao’s career and there are no other potential moneymaking fights except a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The Pacquiao-Thurman title fight sold 500,000 pay-per-view (PPV) buys in the United States, earning an estimated $37.5 million in revenues. During his best days, Pacquiao usually attract over 1 million pay-per-view buys. Experts estimate the Pacquiao-Crawford fight to sell about 300,000 buys.

“Shawn’s father, Kenny, came to see us, and we had preliminary discussions, and let’s see if it can happen,” said Arum to Fighthype. “There’s also Manny Pacquiao, who has said that he wants to fight Terence Crawford. Let’s see if that can happen, but as far as Crawford is concerned, he’s in a good position,” continued Arum.

Porter complained recently of being offered only $1 million purse for the Crawford fight. Arum wants to fill a stadium like the newly created Allegiant in Las Vegas, and he will be looking for Errol Spence or Pacquiao as the opponent for Crawford to obtain full capacity and increase PPV sales. “Obviously, Manny because there’s more money in a Manny fight,” said Arum when asked which of the two fights is more feasible for Crawford to engage in.

“Certainly by June, maybe we can do an Allegiant Stadium or T-Mobile or MGM Grand at 60 or 70% [capacity],” said Arum. Allegiant Stadium is a domed stadium located in Paradise, Nevada, United States. It serves as the home stadium for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Rebels college football team.

Los Angeles Lakers star All-NBA First Five Anthony Davis exasperated his tendinosis in the right Achilles, a source told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, and has to rest in the second half of the Lakers' 122-105 loss to the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers officially called it a right Achilles strain and announced that Davis will undergo an MRI on Monday. Davis collided his legs with that of Nikola Jokic's right knee which made contact with Davis' right quad. Davis left with 2:36 remaining in the second quarter, limping toward the locker room.
