SPORTS SHORTS 45: FURY SAYS HE WILL THROW BOMBS ALL THE WAY TO STOP JOSHUA WHO REPLIES THAT HE WILL FIGHT TO WIN

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is vowing to throw bombs to Anthony Joshua at the start of the very first round. The "Gypsy King" is planning to use the same strategy he did to stop Deontay Wilder. The camps of Fury and Joshua are in earnest negotiations to finalize a two-fight series between the two boxing giants this year. The first encounter is slated in May or June and the venue will be announced once the contract is done.

Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs), age 32 of Wythenshawe, Manchester, England, has has not fought since February 22, 2020, when he stopped then reigning WBC champion Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs), age 35 of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, U.S.A., by seventh-round TKO for the WBC and vacant The Ring, and lineal heavyweight titles at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Paradise, Nevada. Anthony Joshua (24-1, 22 KOs), age 31 of Watford, Hertfordshire, England, stopped Kubrat Pulev (28-2, 14 KOs), age 39 of Sofia, Bulgaria by ninth-round knockout for the IBF, WBA & WBO world heavyweight titles at the Wembley Arena, London.

According to Fury, he has the advantage in every aspect compared to Joshua. He won't give the 2012 London Olympic gold medalist any chance of winning. "I've got a bigger heart, tougher, mentally and physically stronger. I punch harder, everything's in my favor. When I take it to them, they can't deal with it. It's like wrestling a T-Rex. They can't win. I'm indestructible," Fury told Gareth Davies. "I can't be beaten, if I'm injury-free and active there is no losing."

Fury wants to use the same strategy that he applied against Wilder. In that fight, Fury immediately released his stinging blows from the opening round which eroded the hard puncher down the canvas. He then get rid of his foe in the seventh round when Wilder's cornermen threw in the towel. "[I'll fight Joshua] just like I did with Wilder. They said he said he was going to box and move, what did I do? Straight at him, bombs all the way through until he got stopped," Fury said.

Joshua declared that boxing is not for the civilized people and consider himself as a warrior. "Some people may not understand it and I realize in this life is that, 99 per cent of the population are civilized people," said Joshua on his official YouTube channel. "The job I've chosen is for the uncivilized. This is a sport of combat and war. We're not civilized people, we're warriors, and I love it."

Joshua avenged the only loss on his record, defeating Andy Ruiz Jr. (33-2, 22 KOs), age 31 of Imperial Valley, California, United States but of Mexican descent. Joshua lost by a seventh-round TKO but defeated Ruiz by unanimous decision in a rematch. AJ is not threatened by Fury who is still undefeated. "No matter what the tactics are, no matter how much you study, no matter how much you think you can beat me, I'm just there to win," said Joshua as quoted by SkySports. "I'm there to do a job, and that's the fighter's mentality."

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn has been finalizing a deal with Fury's American promoter Bob Arum. Several countries have been contacted to stage the fight as what Hearn recently told Sky Sports. "We're talking to Saudi Arabia, we're talking to Qatar, we're talking to Dubai, we're talking to Singapore, we're talking to China, we're talking to America, " said Hearn, the managing director of Matchroom Sport.

Carmelo Anthony of the Portland Trail Blazers surpassed Atlanta Hawks legend Dominique Wilkins for the 13th spot on the NBA’s all-time scoring list on Tuesday night. Anthony sank a 3-pointer late in the third quarter of the Blazers' 132-121 win over the Washington Wizards at the Capital One Arena. Anthony finished with 21 points coming off the bench, connecting 8-of-16 from the field. Anthony needed only 15 points to overtake Wilkins, who scored 26,668 points in playing 15 seasons, most of the time with the Hawks. The 36-year-old Portland forward could reach 10th on the all-time scoring list this season based on his average.

The president of the Tokyo Olympics organizing Committee has insisted that the Olympic Games will go ahead this summer regardless of the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic.
A recent spike in infections in Japan has seen Tokyo and 10 other prefectures placed under a state of emergency, but Tokyo 2020 President Yoshiro Mori said on Tuesday that the Olympics will take place from July 23-August 8.

"We will hold the Olympics, regardless of how the coronavirus [situation] looks," Mori said, according to Reuters, though he acknowledged that the Games would be different due to the pandemic. "We must consider new ways of hosting the Olympics." The Tokyo 2020 Olympics were postponed by 12 months in April of last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Both the IOC and the Japanese government have denied the report that the Japanese government had privately conceded that the Olympics would have to be cancelled.
