HOLLYWOOD -- Comedy king Dolphy and young actor Richard Gutierrez have predicted a knockout victory for Manny Pacquiao when the Filipino lefty faces World Boxing Council (WBC) superfeatherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on March 15.
?Magaling si Pacquiao kaya mananalo sia by knockout,? Dolphy told Phiboxing during the Fil-Am Films Awards night at the Kodak Center here last March 7.
The following day, Gutierrez, who was also an awardee in the same occasion, visited Pacquio atn the Wild Card Boxing Club and wished him good luck.
?I think Manny Pacquiao will knockout Marquez in the 8th round,? Gutierrez said. Pacquiao, in the thick of the final stage of his training, waved to the actor but did not talk to him. Gutierrez, who was briefly entertained by Jinky Pacquiao, left together with three other non-showbiz companions after 45 minutes.
Gutierrez promised to watch the fight in Las Vegas.
During the test weighing supervised by WBC representatives immediately after the nearly three-hour workout, Pacquiao tipped the scale at 133 lbs. He was cheered by fans and members of the Team Pacquiao entourage.
?He really is prepared for the big fight,? Freddie Roach declared. ?Marquez is also professional so be it.?
In the same afternoon, Wild Card Boxing Club long-time assistant trainer Jessie Arevalo of Mexico reappeared after a long hiatus. ?Matagal siyang nawala at ngayon ay bumalik sia to make his own assessment of the rematch,? said veteran boxing agent and journalist Hermie Rivera. ?That is why, mahalaga ang sasabihin niya tungol sa laban.?
Rivera, 69, said Arevalo told him that Pacquiao?s speed and power will overwhelm Marquez even if in their first meeting four years ago, Pacquiao failed to flatten the reigning WBC 130-lb king en route to finishing the fight on split draw.
?But Pacquiao is more powerful today than compared to four years ago,? Rivera said.
Filipino sensation Bernabe Concepcion also saw a KO win for his ?Kuya Manny.?
?Mga 8th round sa palagay ko babagsak si Marquez. Beyond eight rounds pag wala pang knockout, Kuya Manny will surely win on points,? said Concepcion who also trains in the same gym in preparation for his fight in Mexico on April 27.
