DAVAO CITY – A father and son are each handling boxing champions under the Highland Boxing Promotion.

Allan Alegria, a former World Boxing Association no. 4 welterweight contender is based in Benguet while his son Marvin Alexis is in Manila.

Allan, 56, has also defended his RP title in Davao City – eight times in the super lightweight and seven times in the welterweight.

Allan is now handling Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation flyweight champion Jayr “The Dreamer” Raquinel (12W-1L-1D, 9KO) and undefeated super flyweight Jayson “Strike" Vayson (9W-0L).

Raquinel beat Richard Rosales by majority decision to win the vacant OPBF flyweight title in 2017. He stopped Keisuke Nakayama of Japan in the 9th round last March 3, 2018 in Korakuen Hall in his first defense.

He then knocked out Shun Kosaka of Japan in the 4th round in the Big Wave, Wakayama last May 27, 2018.

In his 3rd title defense, Racquinel stopped Takuya Kogawa of Japan in the 8th round in Korakuen Hall last Aug. 23.

Vayson, on the other hand, knocked out Geboi Mansalayao in the 3rd round in Manila last Feb. 15.

Marvin, 33, on other hand, is taking care of two champions – WBA Asia flyweight champion Jeny Boy “Camiguin Tiger” Boca (14W-2L-0D, 12KO) and WBA Asia super flyweight champion Adrian “Wild Beast” Lerasan (9W-4L-0D, 2KO).

Boca TKO’d Sarawut Thawornkham of Thailand to win the WBA Asia flyweight title at the Suamium Night Bazaar in Ratchadaphisek, Bangkok last March 1.

Lerasan, on the other hand, stopped Tanes Ongjunta of Thailand to win the WBA Asia super flyweight title also at the Suamium Night Bazaar in Bangkok last March 1.

The Alegrias are still keeping their boxers fit for a possible fight – in the Philippines or abroad.

Promoter-manager Brico Santig is still waiting for the sport to be lifted in the lockdown of Covid-19.
