Veteran Bert Batawang hopes to rebound from his heart-breaking loss at the hands of IBF junior flyweight champ Ulises Solis, as he sees action against a Thai fighter on April 6 at the Araneta Coliseum.
The bout will be on the undercard of the Gerry Penalosa-Ratanachai Sor Vorapin card, which will also showcase other top Filipino fighters like Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista and AJ "Bazooka" Banal.
ABS-CBN, according to reports, wants to showcase the line-up of the recent World Cup fighters who won over their Mexican counterparts, and although Batawang failed to see action, he is still considered part of the World Cup.
Only Z Gorres and Diosdado Gabi will not be seeing action, as they have been confirmed to take on separate opponents on different cards.
Batawang failed in his bid to wrest the IBF title from Solis last December 15 in Guadalajara, Mexico, but apparently that has not deterred the veteran fighter from hoping for yet another shot at the title.
