Gerry Peñalosa.
DAVAO CITY -- Former WBC super flyweight champion turned promoter Gerry "Fearless" Peñalosa has recently cancelled a boxing event this month due to an ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

Peñalosa was supposed to have a main event featuring featherweight Dave "The Hunter" Penalosa of Cebu against a Japanese opponent at the Mandaue Coliseum on April 5.

"Kay suspended mag-travel, basin sa July," said Peñalosa.
The younger Peñalosa was supposed to fight his first this year after scoring a technical knockout in the 1st round against Virgil Puton of Cotabato last Dec. 14 at the Elorde Sports Complex.

He, however, lost for the first time to Lerato Dlamini of South Africa by a unanimous decision for the vacant WBC Silver featherweight title last July 12 in Jeddah.
