Duno KOs Merin; Rivera is new RP welterweight champ

DAVAO CITY -- Orthodox Romero "Ruthless" Duno of Gen. Santos City scored a knockout in the 1st round over Angelito "Matrix" Merin of Bukidnon last Saturday night at the Lagao Gym in Gen. Santos City.

It was Duno's comeback fight after he lost to Ryan Garcia of USA by a knockout in the 1st round in Nov. 2.

The 24-year old Duno now has 22 wins with 17 knockouts with two defeats while 29-year old Merin suffered his 13 loss against 10 win and three draw.

Southpaw All "The Machine Gun" Rivera of Northern Samar scored a unanimous decision over Rodel Wenceslao of Leyte to win as the new Philippine welterweight champion in the under card.

The boxing event was made by Sanman Boxing Promotion.
