
Rivas to challenge Valle for IBF Women female minimumweight title on Feb. 8 in Costa Rica

DAVAO CITY -- Reigning Philippine flyweight champion Carleans "Chay" Rivas of Rizal will challenge Yokasta Valle of Costa Rica for the International Boxing Federation World female minimumweight title on Feb. 8 in San Jose in Costa Rica.
The 31-year old Rivas (8W-6L-4D) won all two fights in 2019 including the vacant Philippine flyweight title against Floryvic Montero of Angeles City by a unanimous decision last March 8 in Angono.
She also beat Montero in a rematch by a split decision last Oct. 16 in Calbayog City.
Valle (19W-2L-0D, 8KO), on the other hand, also won all three fights last year including the IBF World female minimumweight title against defending champion Joana Pastrana of Spain by a split decision last Aug. 4 in Spain.
The 27-year old Valle last won against Yenifer Leon of Venezuela by a unanimous decision last Nov. 9 in Costa Rica.
The boxing promoter is Mario Vega of 3MG Boxing.
