TAGBILARAN CITY, BOHOL--Current WBO Asia Pacific light flyweight champion Along Denoy of ALA Stable was well on his way to yet another easy win against Michael Rodriguez before two cuts caused by accidental head clashes prompted the referee to stop the fight upon doctor's recommendation in the sixth-round of their scheduled 10-round non-title bout Monday night at the Island City Mall carpark in this city.

The event was held as part of the birthday celebration for Tagbilaran City Mayor and sportsman Dan Neri Lim, who is hugely credited for boxing's resurgence in this province.

A bloodied Denoy, way ahead on the scorecards, was declared the winner by technical decision after the stoppage.

WBO Asia Pacific chairman Leon Panoncillo said Denoy was allowed to take a non-title bout, and should defend his title in his next fight.

In the chief support, war ensued between Ricky Sismundo and Reman Salim when they engaged in a terrific exchange of leathers over ten rounds.

Sismundo, however, proved busier and pressed the action more en route to a 96-94, 96-94 and 99-91 win. The bout was a rematch of their earlier clash won by Sismundo by majority decision.

Glenn Masicampo upset ex-RP lightweight king Arnel Porras with a close eighth-round technical decision win.

Fighting doctor JV Tuazon stopped Powell Balaba in the second round of their scheduled four-rounder. Balaba, who went down following a barrage of body shots in the second round, also went down in the opening round.

Edcel Tunacao eked out a unanimous decision verdict over Saddam Barambangan.

Joseph Von Minoza stopped Albert Villacampa at 2:34 of the opening round.
