Boracay Island, Philippines – In his first game back in Toronto since receiving his second Finals MVP plum last season, Kawhi Leonard delivered 23 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals for his new team the LA Clippers to beat his former team and defending champions Toronto Raptors 112-92 on Wednesday night (Thursday morning, Philippine time) at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada.
Paul George shot an atrocious 3-for-14 from the field, including 2-for-12 from beyond the arc, to finish with 13 markers. Good thing for Clippers head coach Doc Rivers, five of his wards, apart from Leonard and George, each contributed double-digit scoring.
Lou Williams was his usual explosive self, scoring 18 points to go along with 6 boards and 8 dimes off the bench for the Clippers, who improved to 19 wins and 7 losses, good for 2nd place on the Western Conference team standings.
Paskal Siakam led Toronto with 24 points. Norman Powell and OG Anunoby added 22 and 13, respectively for the Raptors, who dropped to a 16-8 win-loss card. They now sit at 5th place on the Eastern Conference team standings.
Up next for the Raptors are the Brooklyn Nets at Toronto on Saturday night (Sunday morning, Philippine time).
Meanwhile, the Clippers will travel to Minnesota to face the Timberwolves on Friday night (Saturday morning, Philippine time).
