Davao de Oro rules 4th Araw ng Davao Occidental slugfest

DAVAO CITY -- Davao de Oro, formerly known as Compostela Valley, hauled seven gold medals plus two silvers to rule the 4th Araw ng Davao Occidental Invitational Boxing Derby tournament held Oct. 27 at the Felix Trade Center in Malita, Davao Occidental.

Davao de Oro won P40,000 cash prize while Davao del Sur settled for six gold medals and P30,000.

Third place went to Panabo with three golds and P15,000.

A consolation prize of P10,000 each went to Davao City, Sto. Tomas and Davao Occidental.

The 12-year old Edgar Pantollano of Davao de Oro scored a referee-stop-contest in the 1st round over Brian Arnold Hamig of Davao del Sur in the School boys 42 kg-44 kg.

The others won in the Junior Boys division - Keirven Cabilan (46kg.), Jhon Lloyd Ken Pangilan (48kg.) and Aivan Kier Amada .

Cabilan won by a split decision over Art Dexter Agudo of Davao Occidental while Pangilan settled a unanimous decision over Edcel Ladrillo of Sto. Tomas.

Amada won by a split decision, 3-2 over Rocky James Lariso of Davao City.

Three others from Davao de Oro also won in the Youth Boys - Johan Denver Romano (49kg), John Rhelle Lomusbog (52kg) and Jonathan Herida (60kg).

Romano scored a RSC in the 1st round in 40 seconds over John Lee Baldeso of Sto. Tomas.Lomusbog knockout Christian Ampan of Davao Occidental in the first round.

Herida scored RSC over Carlito Navales Jr. of Davao Occidental.

The awarding of prizes was given by medical team head Dr. Ana Bautista-Quesada and Executive Secretary of Governor Carmelo Tamayo.

The tournament manager was Celestino Revamonte Jr. with tournament secretary is Mary Grace delos Reyes.

Klaint Harvey Buynay (DC) stopped Lois Arjay Pojas (Panabo) by RSC in 1st round

Keirven Cabilan (DDO) beat Art Dexter Agudo (DO) by split decision
