Laurel to fight Saulong in ''Unang Sagupaan sa Gumaga''

DAVAO CITY -- Alie ''Demolition Man'' Laurel of Gen. Santos City will fight Ernesto ''Chocolate'' Saulong of Mindoro Occidental on Nov. 10 for the vacant World Boxing Organization Oriental super bantamweight title at the Southern Quezon Convention Center in Gumaca, Quezon City.

The 27-year old Laurel recently beat Lloyd Jardeliza of Marikina by a unanimous decision last Aug. 3 in Mandaluyong City.

He also TKO'd Visut Tamkhuntod of Thailand in the 3rd round last Jan. 26 in Bangkok,Thailand.

Laurel has a total of 16 wins with 10 knockouts and four defeats and one draw.

Saulong, on the other hand, has 22 wins with nine knockouts against five defeats and two draws.

The 30-year old orthodox fighter, however lost in his last bout against Brock Jarvis of Australia in the fight for the vacant World Boxing Association Oceania super bantamweight title last Aug. 31 in Victoria, Australia.

Saulong earlier retired Junjie Lauza of Gen. Santos City in the 4th round last Dec. 28 in Muntinlupa. He also settled a technical draw with Jhunriel Ramonal of Laguna last Feb.13 in Baras, Rizal.

Meanwhile, minimumweight Roldan Sasan (8W-1L-OD, 3KO) of Bohol will face Jonathan Almacen of Muntinlupa (6W-3L-2D, 2KO) in the under card.

The promotion is made by Brico Santig of Highland and Darwin Miller Angelo Dep-ay of DMAD Boxing Promotion in coordination with Cong. David ''Jayjay'' Suarez, Alona Party List, Provincial Government of Quezon, Municipal Government of Gumaca and Mayor Webter Letargo.
