GENERAL SANTOS CITY – SENATOR Manny Pacquiao leads today (Sunday, Oct. 13) the 7th founding anniversary of his church, The Word For Everyone, here.

Pacquiao, with the help of Rev. Boy Buan, envisioned the founding of his own house of worship in 2010 when he became a born again Christian.

In 2014, the construction of the huge church building started on a sprawling two-hectare lot along Aparente Street in City Heights village here.

Finally, in the later part of 2015, the church building, with a total cost of around P295 million ($US6.7 million), was finally erected.

“Everything I have right now – wealth, health, fame, success, a dutiful and beautiful wife and my wonderful children – are all blessings from God. I have to give it back to Him. The amount is nothing compared to what God has done to my life,” Pacquiao said.

Pacquiao claimed building a worship house is his own way of glorifying and thanking God.

“I owe everything to God. Without Him, I am nothing. We were born bare and naked and when we make our final rendezvous with The Great Beyond, we can bring nothing,” Pacquiao added.

The world’s lone eight-division boxing champ explained that The Word For Everyone is not a religion.

“The most important thing is not religion but our relationship with God. Through the church, we endeavor to establish, strengthen man’s relationship with the Creator,” Pacquiao said.

The senator-boxer is the main speaker for the 7th founding anniversary of the church today.

Since he became a renewed Christian, the lawmaker from Mindanao has shown profound devotion not only to his faith but more so in reading the Holy Bible.

“The Word of God is the nourishment for our soul. It strengthens our faith and protects us from evil,” he said.

Pacquiao and his family are devoting at least an hour reading the Bible before going to bed and another hour before rising up from bed in the morning.

Aside from his legacy in boxing and politics, Pacquiao wants to leave something more important and special – a legacy of faith and a House of God.

“Building a church to serve mankind and our Creator is more self-fulfilling than my achievements in boxing and politics,” the Pinoy boxing superstar said.
