LOS ANGELES ? Discipline, hard work, dedication and undying passion for the craft ? these are the stuffs legends are made of.
And Manny Pacquiao, the reigning World Boxing Association (WBA) Welterweight champion, is not wanting when it comes to such virtues.
No wonder Pacquiao is the world?s lone eight-division boxing champion and the only active boxer who became a member of the national legislature.
Pacquiao?s boxing prowess is both a natural gift and an offshoot of good virtues instilled in him over the years by strict maternal upbringing, Spartan-like discipline and intense physical training.
Pacquiao?s attitude in training is unmatched. He?s like a machine ? unstoppable, tireless, with mind-boggling endurance and tolerance to pain.
On Monday, amid the disapproval of key conditioning coach Justine Fortune and lead trainer Buboy Fernandez, Pacquiao went on an uphill run leading to Griffith Observatory.
From that vantage point, visitors can enjoy looking at the spectacular view of Los Angeles. Air up there usually is so cool and refreshing except during that gusty and rainy Monday morning.
Even Pacquiao?s security personnel were caught off guard. They thought, the Pinoy boxing idol would just stay home.
From his home in Plymouth Boulevard, Pacman jumped off around 7:00 a.m. Monday amid the drizzle and proceeded to Los Feliz, a hillside neighborhood in the central region of Los Angeles, about 2.1 miles away from Griffith Observatory.
Upon reaching Griffith Observatory, Pacquiao started doing the routine shadow boxing. Fortune, however, prevailed over him.
Pacquiao and his team drove back to his Plymouth residence where a sumptuous breakfast was already prepared for him.
While beautiful praise and worship songs were being played in the background, the boxer-lawmaker with some of his friends feasted on the scrumptious meal served by his long-time chefs Jeremiah ?Moray? Quijano and Michael ?General? Kakilala.
The Pinoy ring idol rested for a while after breakfast then granted the requests for interview by several media entities.

The Pinoy boxing legend went up to his room afterward to take some rest.
He woke up past noontime to take his lunch. Around 2:00 p.m., he went down then drove his BMW sports car going to the Wild Card Boxing gym.
He spent six rounds on the mitts with supervising coach Freddie Roach, three rounds hitting the double-end bag and another three minutes hammering the speed bag.
He wrapped up his Monday training with several sets of excruciating abdominal workout.
