CEBU CITY--In an action-packed war, Bohol's Ricky Sismundo defied all odds with a hard-earned majority decision victory over international campaigner Reman Salim moments ago at the Paseo here in an event sponsored by sportsman Luigi Quisumbing of the Norkis Group of Companies.
Sismundo was the aggressor most of the ten-round bout, and was the busier fighter enabling him to earn the nod of the two judges.
Judges Salven Lagumbay and Edward Ligas scored the bout 96-94 for the Harada Stable fighter Sismundo, while Edgar Olalo had it 95-95.
The bout was the mainer of a three-bout, free-to-the-public event which kicks off the ?Holiday Fist Fest Boxing Series? of the ALA Promotions in cooperation with Norkis Group of Companies.
In the chief support, Mark John Yap kept his unblemished record with a unanimous decision win over Marjo Borres over eight rounds.
Scores were 76-75, 77-74, and 77-74 all for the Cagayan de Oro-raised Yap.
The curtain-raiser featuring Rey Villar against Alberto Simbajon ended in a split draw after four rounds of action.
The next installation of this series takes place on December 23 where rising ALA boxers Weng Haya, Joseph Omania, and James Bacon will be facing Pedro Malco and Gil Melligen of Bacolod City and Joy Pol of Bato, Leyte, respectively, at the Danao Sports Complex in Danao City.
