BORACAY, Philippines. DeMar DeRozan made a 16-foot jumper with 15.9 seconds to go while Pau Gasol added two free throws in the final 2.4 seconds to propel the San Antonio Spurs past the L.A. Lakers, 110-106, at the AT&T Center.
DeRozan finished with a team-high 30 points with 12 rebounds and eight assists. He also had two steals and a block to help the Spurs improve their record to 3-2 for the season.
LeBron James, who passed Dirk Nowitzki for sixth on the all-time scoring list with a 17-foot third quarter, finished with a game high 35 points, 11 boards and four dimes. But the Lakers fell to 2-4 on Saturday night.
Rudy Gay, meanwhile, had 16 points, 10 rebounds, five assists off-the-bench for San Antonio.
The Lakers won the 3-point battle 13-3, but the Spurs compensated for the disparity by scoring 54 points in the paint against only 38 by Los Angeles.
