Mexican Antonio 'Barrio' Meza knows what's at stake when he faces Filipino Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista at the Areneta Coliseum on December 2, and has prepared himself for the tough grind in training camp located in Mexico City under the watchful eyes of former world champion Edgar "Tuntun" Cardenas.
Training religiously for the fight, Meza says that he is now in peak form and will bring to the Philippines all his arsenal to be used against the hugely-popular Bautista.
?I cannot fail? I am going to bring to the Philippines the arsenal that I have? I know that it will be a difficult fight and that I should look for a knockout," Meza told Boxnoticias.
The 25-year-old Meza (23-3, 16 KO's), a southpaw, hails from Mexicali in Mexico, although he was born in Ciudad Obregon, in Sonora Province.
?I am very conscientious in training for this fight which I know should be very tough because "Boom Boom" is everybody's idol in the Philippines and to win against him would definitely bring good things to me in the future," explains Meza, who thanked Oscar Ruiz of Cazador Promotions and Edgar Cardenas for the support.
The Bautista versus Meza bout headlines the eight-bout boxing extravaganza dubbed "Payback", which is promoted by Third Force Promotions.
As a bonus to ticket buyers, organizers have made sure that they will also be able to watch Nonito Donaire's title defense in Connecticut on the same day via closed circuit inside the Araneta Coliseum right before the main event.
This as Solar Sports William Tieng and ABC 5's Tony Boy Cojuangco firmed up a deal for this historic tie-up.
"This just goes to show how true sportsmen can work together without any vested interests but to help Filipino boxers and give the best to Pinoy sports fans. Im sure the fans will have a wonderful time watching Boom Boom, AJ (Banal), and now Donaire in one venue," said Third Force promoter Noli Eala.
No ticket price increase will be charged for the Donaire super bonus attraction. For ticket information, please call Ticketnet at 9115555.
