SORIANO FACES UNBEATEN CHINESE BOXER GE FOR WBO INTL. TITLE

SHENZHEN, CHINA ? Filipino Ivan Soriano and Ge Wenfeng of China will dispute the vacant WBO International flyweight title this Friday August 24 at the Shenzhen Bao?an District Sports Center.

Ge is undefeated with a 10-0,6KO?s record. His best opponent was Amnat Ruenroeng, a former IBF world flyweight champion. Amnat lost to Ge by unanimous decision in Suzhou, China last November in a fight for the WBO Oriental title.

Soriano (18-1-1,9KO?s) won the vacant OPBF Silver light flyweight title last year by unanimous decision against another Filipino, Jaysever Abcede in Makati City. He is no stranger to overseas bouts, having fought in Thailand five straight times with a 4W-1D record.

Both boxers easily made weight during the official weigh-in held Thursday at the fight venue, Ge was 111.6lbs while Soriano stepped on the scales at 110.8lbs.

Ahatelike Muerzhabieke (China) will be pitted against Chaloemporn Sawatsuk (Thailand) for the vacant WBO China National supermiddleweight title.

Muerzhabieke (7-1-1,4KO?s) weighed in at 165.5lbs while Sawatsuk (18-5,14KO?s) was at 166.4lbs.

Supervising for the WBO is Leon Panoncillo, the WBO VP for Asia Pacific.

For the rest of the card - Li Jiajia (China) vs Rivo Rengkung (Indonesia) ? 6 rounds, Wang Bo (China) vs Aleksei Podkolzin (Russia)- 6 rounds, Duan Guolin (China) vs Diogo Reis (Portugal) ? 4 rounds, Female Chinese boxers Chen Zhengwen vs Ouyang Jianping ? 4 rounds and for 4 round the swing bout an all Chinese match-up of Ling Yunjie vs Zhang Huanliang.

The bouts will be supervised and sanctioned by the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC) of China.
