GUZMAN BEATS SOTO; MAKES SELF AVAILABLE AGAINST PACQUIAO!

WBO superfeatherweight champion Joan Guzman has just prevailed over Mexican Humberto Soto in their crossroad fight moments ago at the Borgata Hotel Casino in Atlantic City.

Guzman proved to be too skillful for Soto, outboxing the latter en route to a 117-111 (twice) and 118-110 verdict.

Soto seemed to be the better-conditioned fighter, but that was not enough as he was outgunned and found Guzman a puzzle most of the rounds.

The victory kept Guzman's unbeaten slate to 28-0, 17 KO's, and lines him up for a possible duel with superstar Manny Pacquiao sometime in the near future.

Guzman, who is trained by Floyd Mayweather Sr, has been calling out Pacquiao lately, even personally attending the post-fight press conference of the Pacquiao-Barrera rematch to ask Pacquiao for a fight in front of a stunned crowd at the Mandalay Bay Events Center's media room.

Soto's loss is expected to be a major blow to promoter Bob Arum, according to sources.

"This will surely be a big letdown to Bob. Soto is one of his prime candidates for a Pacquiao opponent. Now Guzman has just solidified his entry into the Pacquiao sweepstakes.
