TAGBILARAN CITY- Displaying awesome power and superior boxing skills, Dave Pe?alosa demolished his Indonesian foe in his comeback fight at the Bohol Wisdom School Gym here.

Ricky Manufoe first hit the canvass late in the 1st round and had it thrice in the 2nd, prompting Cebuano referee Nic Banal to stop the fight at 2 minutes and 30 seconds (2:30) of the round.

Dave's powerful body shots tremendously hurt the Indonesian journeyman, telling this writer, that the pain was excruciating.

"It (sic) really painful. He is very good, the winner," Manufoe (27-34-3) said in halting English.

The 27 year-old son of Dodie Boy Penalosa thus raised his record to 13-0, with 9 knock-outs (K.O.'s).

GERRY IS SATISFIED

His uncle Gerry Pe?alosa, the fight's promoter was satisfied with the result saying he will arranged many fights ahead for his nephew.

"Nalipay ko sa akong nakita, ako pa gyud ni siya paawayun kanang hangtod pwede na siya ug (I am really happy with what I saw, I will really have him fight until he will be ripe for a) championship," Gerry said after the well-attended match supported by his friend, Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnel "Baba" Yap, the fight's co-sponsor, who also awarded the winner's trophy for the bout.

Mayor Yap watched the fight at ringside seating beside Gerry and the promoters beauteous wife, Goddy Llido-Penalosa.

DODIE BOY IS PROUD OF HIS SON

Dave's father Dodie Boy who also stood as one of his trainers revealed that the result of the fight means a lot.

"Kini nga gipakita niya karun nga maayo ok gyud, pwede pa gyud siya. Atu gyung paningkamutan nga mabangon gyud ang iyang career kay dugay na ni siya ( What he has shown is really okay, he really still can do it. We will really strive to revive his career since it was really a long while that he has been) inactive," Dodie told scribes in post fight interview.

To prepare Dave for his comeback fight, Dodie along with his other brother, Jonathan, trained Dave in one of the gyms of Gerry in Manila and later in the Pacman Wildcard gym in General Santos City (both Dodie and Jonathan were picked by Manny Pacquiao as part of his coaching staff in his on-going training for his July 15 fight against Lucas Matthysse in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).

Dave for his part said that the result has inspired him to focus on his career. He confided that he really trained hard to prove something.

"Pasalamat gyud ko, nagbunga ra gyud akong paningkamot (I am really thankful, my sacrifices paid off)," he said in elation.

As per boxrec.com, Dave's last fight prior to the Saturday promotion dubbed," Rumble in Bohol" was May 2016 (not 2015 as earlier reported).

CARLO ALSO WON

Meanwhile, in the co-featured bout, Dave's cousin, Carlo (Carl Caesar) Penalosa also won convincingly, against another Indonesian, Iwan Key.

Carlo unleashed a well connected left-straight to the jaw of Key, dropping the visitor on all fours in the blue canvass of the ring which were painted in white with the incoming Pacquiao-Matthysse face-off.

Judge Angelito Piquero halted the fight at 1:20 of the 5th round as the Indonesian did not stood up after the count of 10.
