TAGBILARAN CITY- Cebuano Dave Pe?alosa, the son of former world boxing champion Dodie Boy Pe?alosa, is making a comeback in the ring.

The date: July 7, 2018 @ the Bohol Wisdom School gymnasium dubbed "Rumble in Bohol", a day time fight, co-sponsored by Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnel "Baba" Yap.

"Comeback gyud ni Dave, nindot ni nga duwa. Akong giimbitar ang mga amigo nato ug mga boxing aficionados nga mutan-aw gyud (This is the comeback of Dave, this promises to be a good fight. I am inviting all our friends and boxing aficionados to watch this bout), Gerry Pe?alosa, his uncle, who is promoting the fight, told this writer in a phone interview from here.

Gerry held two world boxing championship belts in his prime, the World Boxing Council (WBC) junior bantamweight and World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight.

Dave used to pick-up wins, registering an unblemished record of 12-0 with 8 knock-out victories but a hand-injury which required therapy and ample rest forced him to temporarily stopped from his profession, which also saw his father, Dodie Boy, lording over in two divisions in the world, the IBF junior flyweight and flyweight.

"Nahunong siya tungod sa injury sa kamot pero karun nga okay na, tan-awon nato kining iyang (He stopped because of his hand injury but now that he is okay, let us see his) tune-up fight," Gerry added, who also said, that the bout will also feature his another nephew, Carlo Pe?alosa, from San Carlos City, Negros Oriental.

Dave is best remembered for his come from behind knock-out win against Danilo Gabisay in Mandaluyong gym last July 2014. He is slated to fight for the WBO featherweight Asia-Pacific regional belt if he wins against Indonesian journeyman Ricky Manufoe.

The fight will be aired live via ESPN-TV5 starting at 12:30pm and will last until 4pm.

Carlo Pe?alosa for his part is pitted against another Indonesian, Iwan Key, in a separate 10 rounder.

Dave will be coach by his father himself and uncle Jonathan, also, a world rated boxer during his active days in the ring.

Promising Boholano boxers will also fight in the undercards.

PE?ALOSA TO WATCH PACQUIAO FIGHT AT RINGSIDE

Meanwhile, Gerry announced that he will watch at ringside the forthcoming World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight championship fight between his close-friend, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, and title-holder Lucas Matthysse.

The bout is slated on July 15 (Philippine time) at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Golden Boy Promotions Oscar dela Hoya and Pacquiao's MP Promotions are co-promoting the bout that is expected to be dominated by Filipinos who will flew in from the Philippines just to watch the fighting senator from Sarangani province.

Pe?alosa is among the privileged people that will accompany Team Pacquiao in a chartered Phlippine Airlines ( PAL) flight from General Santos City.

"Mularga mi sa July 9, PAL, kuyog mi ni (We will depart on July 9, PAL, kuyog mi ni) Senator Manny," Pe?alosa said.

Unlike in the past, the Malaysia fight will have no Freddie Roach in the corner of Pacquiao.

Pacquiao's childhood buddy, Restituto "Buboy" Fernandez, will coach the Filipino fighter, who holds the distinction of being boxing's only eight-division world boxing champion.

The assistants of Restituto includes his younger brother, Roger "Haplas" Fernandez, Raides "Nonoy" Neri and Dodong Donaire, the father of former world boxing champion Nonito Donaire, Jr.
