CEBU CITY--World flyweight king Nonito Donaire Jr is slated to fly to Manila on Wednesday to meet up with his American promoter Gary Shaw, who will be attending the WBC annual world convention.

Donaire, in an interview yesterday, indicated that his promoter is coming in, and a meeting between him and his father and Shaw has been arranged by Solar Sports, the country's leading sports channel.

Donaire will be accompanied in the trip by his father/trainer Nonito Sr, and the duo is expected to discuss with Shaw their upcoming fight, as well as some other pertinent concerns regarding their promotional relationship.

Shaw, aside from being Manny Pacquiao's former promoter, also promotes Vic Darchinyan, the brash Australian who was easily demolished by Donaire to claim the IBF and IBO titles.

Donaire is also expected to be at ringside when the "Battle in Manila" boxing event, promoted by MP Promotions, takes place later that day at the SM Mall of Asia, the biggest shopping mall in Asia.

Donaire has been religiously training for his upcoming defense at the ALA Gym, sparring against the best available sparmates available in Cebu.

The 24-year-old world champion yesterday ran for 45-minutes on the treadmill in the morning, then reported to the ALA Gym in the afternoon where he did several rounds hitting the mitts and the other usual training routine.

"I'm just about in perfect weight for this fight. This is the best training I've ever had since I turned pro," said Donaire.

Last night, Donaire had dinner with some members of Cebu's sports media hosted by Cebu's leading young sportsman John Pages, whose family owns Mooon Cafe in Guadalupe.
