CEBU CITY--World flyweight champion Nonito Donaire is slated to resume his sparring sessions today at the ALA Gym after a long weekend, as he continues preparation for his December 1 (Dec. 2 RP time) defense against Mexican Luis Maldonado.

"We plan to spar against RP champ Rocky Fuentes and Louie Bantigue this week. We don't need much bigger sparmates, we need boxers just his size so he will have more leeway moving around," said Donaire's father and trainer Nonito Sr.

The 24-year-old IBF and IBO champion yesterday ran sprints at the ALA Gym track oval in the morning, and looked ripped following a 45-minute timed sesion.

The hard-punching Donaire then resumed his workout in the afternoon, hitting the mitts for twelve rounds before doing other routine exercises.

The father-and-son team made a quick trip to Manila last Sunday, where the young champ took part of the ABS-CBN panel as studio analyst of the Juan Manuel Marquez-Rocky Juarez WBC superfeatherweight showdown.

Despite the long weekend due to the November 1 and 2 Holy Days, Donaire continued to train at the ALA Gym as if they were normal training days, and is now looking super-fit and ready to go.

The highly anticipated Donaire-Maldonado showdown will be aired on Philippine television by one or two of the major local channels.

The event will also be aired worldwide by Showtime.
