MAKATI CITY ? Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao has started on Monday morning his conditioning workout for the June 24 duel versus Argentinian World Boxing Association (WBA) Welterweight titleholder Lucas Mathysse in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Pacquiao jogged for two rounds around the 2.6-kilometer long Cambridge Circle in Forbes Park here before doing abdominal exercises.

?I started early because my last fight was in July last year. My opponent is a reigning WBA champion so I must be in tip-top shape when I climb up the ring,? Pacquiao said.

Pacquiao bared that his focus at this stage is merely on conditioning. Gym workout will start in the middle of April.

?I started doing just a light workout to boost my stamina, speed and power. Training at the boxing gym will begin in the middle of April,? Pacquiao said.

According to him, the Pacquiao-Matthysse fight is 99 percent in the bag.

Golden Boy Promotions top honcho Oscar Dela Hoya and his entourage would be arriving in Manila on first week of April.

Matthysse is fighting under Golden Boy Promotions.

MP Promotions, a boxing promotional outfit established by Pacquiao, is promoting the Pacquiao-Matthysse fight.

There will be a press conference to formally announce the fight in Manila when Dela Hoya and Matthysse camp arrive.

Both camps will fly out to Malaysia afterward to formally launch the June 24 title fight.
