CEBU CITY -- World flyweight champion Nonito Donaire hit town today and a few hours later immediately buckled down to business by working out at the famed ALA Gym here in the afternoon.

Donaire, accompanied by his father-trainer Nonito Sr, planed in on a PAL flight from San Francisco via Manila, and was immediately whisked away on a waiting SUV owned by ALA Gym owner Antonio L. Aldeguer.

From the airport, Donaire immediately proceeded to FM Station Y101, where he did an interview with Cebu City Councilor Sylvan "Jack" Jakosalem, at the same time answering queries from worldwide audience listening throught the internet.

Donaire then proceeded to the Parklane Hotel before working out at the ALA Gym starting at 3PM.

"I just feel so great today. I've sweated out a lot after the workout, and that's what I'm here to do," Donaire said after a two-hour workout consisting of shadow-boxing, hitting the mitts, and other routine.

ALA Gym trainer Edito Villamor, meanwhile, has revealed that among those being tapped to spar with Donaire are Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista, RP bantam champ Michael Domingo, RP flyweight champ Rocky Fuentes and Weng Haya.

Donaire, who will be here on a month-long training stint, is scheduled to start sparring later this week.

He has already accomplished some 30 rounds of sparring in San Leandro, California against his brother Glenn and one Mexican fighter.

"The welcome we got here when we arrived is just awesome. No wonder Manny Pacquiao also chose Cebu as his training ground," said the amiable young champion.
