Filipino Wyndel Janiola will get a crack at popular Mexican fighter Jorge Arce when they meet on December 1 for the WBC Latino bantamweight title at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque in New Mexico, USA.
The Top Rank-promoted event will also feature Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (33-0-1, 26 KOs) fight his toughest opponent yet in Ray Sanchez III, 20-1, 15 KOs. The card also features WBO champion Ivan Calderon and undefeated Denver jr. welter Mike Alvarado.
?After I defeat Janiola,? said Arce, in an interview with Fightnews, ?I want Gerry Penalosa.?
Janiola, however, revealed in an interview yesterday that nobody has told him about the fight with Arce, and that he will not fight in the bantamweight division.
"That weight is too much for me. I'm just a natural junior flyweight. It would have been ok if we fought at flyweight, but bantamweight is way too big for me," Janiola said.
Janiola, who is a much better fighter than his record indicates, said he has yet to start training, and that fighting Arce at bantamweight is impossible.
"Even if we fought at superflyweight, i would still have doubts," Janiola added, saying that a Bukidnon matchmaker has been working on his US travel documents.
