Filipino Nonito Donaire Jr received last night the "Upset of the Year Award" at the World Boxing Hall of Fame following his easy dismantling of the loud-mouthed Vic Darchinyan.

The awarding ceremony was held at the Double Tree Hotel along Vineyard Avenue in Ontario California, where a formal dinner was held in honor of the awardees.

Superstar Manny Pacquiao was chosen as "Fighter of the Year" in the said awarding ceremonies.

"The award is in recognition of the many accomplishments of Pacquiao in the months past, including wins over Mexican legends and future Hall Fame awardees, Eric Morales and Marco Antonio Barerra," said a report by Philboxing.com's Ed De la Vega.

Meanwhile, Nonito Donaire Sr, who trains his world champion son, revealed this morning that they are scheduled to fly to the Philippines on Saturday to start training at the world famous ALA Boxing Gym for Donaire's December 1 defense against Luis Maldonado in Connecticut.

"We are just awaiting for the training money from our manager Cameron Dunkin and then we will be off to the Philippines," said Donaire Sr in an interview today.
