The first title defense of IBF minimumweight champion Florante "The Little Pacquiao" Condes against former title-holder Muhammad Rachman has been moved to December, according to his manager Aljoe Jaro yesterday.
The Condes-Rachman rematch was originally slated for November 16 in Antipolo City, Rizal, but the managerial and promotional situation concerning Condes has pushed back the planned title defense.
"I have already tapped US-based lawyers to take care of our problem. Once that is resolved, we can then move to have a December title defense," said Jaro in a long-distance interview with this writer.
According to Jaro, he had already made initial talks with Top Rank's Todd Duboef and everything seems headed to a possible takeover by the Las Vegas-based promotional outfit for the right to promote the highly-exciting fighter Condes.
"But I have asked Top Rank to allow us to make one title defense in the country before the year ends. So i think that's the plan right now," Jaro added.
Both Condes and Rachman have been preparing for their grudge rematch, and the Indonesian ex-world champ has even tapped a new trainer to guide him into regaining his old title which Condes snatched from him in their first encounter last July 7 in Jakarta.
