ASIS TKOs MALCO IN BINAN BOXING

Olivetti boxer and RP #5 featherweight contender Jack Asis put on a solid performance last night en route to stopping veteran Pedro Malco in the 6th round of their co-main attraction fight of the event dubbed ?Bakbakan sa Plaza? held at the Binan Sports Center, Binan, Laguna.
In the first round, Asis started to take control of the fight tagging Malco with quick jabs and uppercuts. In the second round, Asis decked Malco with a big left hook to the chin and managed to trap the latter seconds after the knockdown although he allowed Malco to survive the round when he surprisingly held back his power punches. Asis continued jabbing in the third round landing most of his punches while Malco was countering with his right but unable to find his mark. The punch of the round was a big left jab from Asis that caught and rocked Malco flush to the jaw as he came charging in. In the fourth round, Asis went target shooting, his jabs hitting Malco almost at will. Later in the round, he resorted to one-two jab-straight combinations oftentimes tilting back the head of Malco but unable to seriously hurt him. In the fifth round, Asis was less busy content in throwing, albeit, landing single punches until he unleashed a combination towards the end of the round that may have hurt Malco. Asis immediately sparked fireworks at the start of the 6th round catching Malco with another combination to the head although the latter appeared to be faking injury, not showing any signs that he was seriously hurt. Later in the round, Asis was chasing Malco all over the ring, still connecting with his punches. The accumulation of punches finally took its toll on Malco as he then turned his back on Asis midway in the round prompting referee Warren Jaro to immediately stop the fight for an Asis TKO win. The fight, scheduled for 10 rounds was fought at the featherweight limit.
Meanwhile, another Olivetti boxer in Richard Laano battered the game Cris Dujali to submission when he dropped the latter with an array of uppercuts in the first minute of the third round in their co-main event 10-round bantamweight bout. Laano dominated the first two rounds, also with his sneaky uppercuts, but Dujali began mixing things up in the third round until he was decked by Laano. Dujali courageously went back to his feet but visibly groggy and bloody, referee Warren Jaro mercifully stopped the fight.
The third co-main event fight between RP #8 minimumweight Mating Kilakil and RP #11 Nel Llanos ended in a split draw with the judges turning in scores of 96-95 (Kilakil), 97-93 (Llanos), and 95-95. Kilakil, who also fights out of the Olivetti Boxing Stable was the busier fighter oftentimes scoring combinations to the head and body and occasionally tagging Llanos? chin with hooks and uppercuts. Llanos, however, scored the heavier and crispier punches catching Kilakil several times with huge straights.
In another bout, Binan boxer Dino Lelis, putting on a display of accurate body punching, defeated the competitive Esmalben Bujas in their 4-rd minimum-weight bout. The curtain raiser fight between flyweights Cocoy Ricaforte and A. Tuling Turko was proceeding to be an interesting affair until it ended in a bizarre manner when the latter suffering from leg cramps, surprisingly turned his back on his opponent prompting referee Warren Jaro to stop the fight.
