Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is scheduled to make a quick trip to Manila today after wrapping up his workout reportedly to finalize deals with a television company regarding his October 6 duel with Marco Antonio Barrera.

"He's leaving for Manila tomorrow. I'll accompany him but he'll be back immediately," informed Rex 'Wakee' Salud, Pacquiao's close associate, in an interview yesterday.

Pacquiao, however, is expected to do his usual morning run at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club being a non-sparring day, and then report to the gym at around 11 AM, said chief of staff Jake Joson.

"He'll be back on Sunday at 6PM," reported Joson, who was with Pacquiao yesterday at the gym.

Pacquiao's conditioning coach, former two-division world champion Dodie Boy Penalosa, yesterday said the GenSan lefty did a total of nine rounds sparring against Mexicans Raymundo Beltran, David Rodela and Filipino Aaron Melgarejo, bringing to 54 the total number of rounds he has sparred so far at the gym.

"He did three rounds against each of them," reported Dodie Boy Penalosa. "But he didn't want to spar against me," jokingly added Penalosa, the former IBF junior flyweight and flyweight ruler who sowed terror in his division in the 80's.

Renowned trainer Freddie Roach has indicated that Pacquiao should have about 130 rounds of sparring before he leaves for Los Angeles on September 22, where he will stay for one week before heading out for Las Vegas.
