Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) flyweight champion Jojo Bardon will defend his title for the first time today against Japanese Masaharu Naganawa at the Industrial Hall in Gifu, Japan.

According to Bardon's manager Rex 'Wakee' Salud, in an interivew yesterday, the Filipino fighter is hell-bent on retaining his title as a ticket to a possible world title opportunity in the future.

Salud, however, regrets that he will not be able to attend the fight from ringside, as he is busy taking care of the needs of superstar Manny Pacquiao and the celebrated Freddie Roach who are training in his gym.

Pacquiao is prepping for his October 6 superbout with Marco Antonio Barrera, a rematch of their initial encounter won by Pacquiao by an impressive eleventh-round stoppage.

Bardon versus Naganawa will be a rematch of their first encounter last March won by the Filipino via split verdict in Nagoya, Japan.

Filipino Sev Necesario is one of the officials for today's bout.
